Meritos: where it all began…

It wasn’t the first time I’d discussed the idea of starting a business, in fact, a few years back, I’d even inspected office space. So, when I sat down with some trusted clients and tested the idea, I was surprised when they looked at me and said, “why are you waiting?”. It was definitely one of those pivotal moments where you really have to look at yourself in the mirror and ask the same question.

Turns out, I was waiting for nothing, except to conquer my fear, which I did the following week by resigning from my fantastic job. It was a turning point in my life because I’d wanted to start a business for a long time, and so Meritos was born and it was the best and most right decision I’ve ever made.

One of the first things I did after I resigned was think about the name of my business. The Latin word, Meritos, pronounced Mer – it – toes, really resonated with me for a few reasons. It is the plural word for Meritus and before we go down a Latin rabbit hole, basically, it means “we will deserve” or “we will earn”. I really like the inclusiveness of the meaning because we’re doing something together and at Meritos that is exactly how we operate. We are a recruitment agency who helps organisations and people in critical points in their career journey or lives. Through the process, we develop deep and strong relationships with our clients and candidates and the end result is the right candidate will be placed. Most importantly, the right candidate in an organisation can achieve things that would not be possible otherwise. So, it has always been a privilege to be a part of this journey.

We love working with our clients but why would you want to work with us? At Meritos, we are privately owned, and home grown, which means we prioritise client experience and outcomes over profits every time. We believe your people are key to your organisation’s future and we’ll be part of your team to unleash their potential. We are experts in the sectors we represent, and our proven methodology delivers a process that achieves diversity outcomes, demonstrates good governance, and is data-driven and cost-effective.

We also believe everyone should have access to expert industry advice, especially the great not-for-profit organisations who are making an impact in the world, so we make this a priority with our industry-leading loyalty program. Our loyalty program helps organisations accrue points to offset costs against future recruitment needs. Organisations can also pay it forward and donate their points to a chosen charity so that we can help with their Talent needs.

We also offer a range of services, which supports our overall mission to shape purpose-driven organisations so talent can thrive. I’ve listed them below so please contact us for more information or for a confidential discussion.

Executive search

We are skilled at finding and assessing leaders who will meet your current and future organisational objectives.

Interim leadership

We have a talent pool of experienced senior executives who can assist your organisation on an interim or contract basis.

Specialist recruitment

Whether you need assistance in finding permanent staff or require a temporary employee to support you for a short period of time, we can assist.

People experience

Through our extensive network of expert human capital associates, we offer a range of human capital consulting solutions that are focused on developing high-performing leaders, improving productivity, enhancing culture and supporting wellbeing within your business.

Looking back on that conversation, many months ago, I could not have imagined how much I would achieve, but when you’re living your passion, work is extremely rewarding. At Meritos, we bring this passion into your organisations so that talent can thrive and because, most importantly, we want to help you achieve your career and life goals too.
